This classic saga of mystery, intrigue, and adventure has set the standard for Dungeons & Dragons computer. Since its initial release in 1998, Baldurs Gate has entertained millions of fans around the globe and has received countless awards. This means that you will need to know people who have the game in order to play it in co-op. Baldurs Gate: Enhanced Edition includes the classic Baldurs Gate: The Original Saga. Currently, only TCP/IP is supported (online matchmaking is in the works), so players will need to get the host’s IP address to connect. Through navigating the menu, it just takes a few seconds to set up a multiplayer game. Setting up a game is relatively simple: one player will host by choosing from either the Baldur’s Gate campaign or the Black Pits. The game pretty much plays the same in single-player as co-op, so this review will be defaulting to a co-op experience. The rest of my review is mostly geared to new players of Baldur’s Gate, whether it be original or enhanced. While knowing the additions and updates from the original to the enhanced edition is probably enough to help former players decide whether they want to purchase it or not, they don’t tell a brand new player how the game actually plays. It’s certainly worthy of the title “Enhanced Edition.” On top of that, a whopping 400 issues with the original game were addressed during the process of updating it. Also, aspects from Baldur’s Gate II have been brought over, such as class kits, new subraces and subclasses. A brand new adventure, the Black Pits, has been added as have three brand new companion characters. BG:EE comes complete with the original game as well as its expansion, T ales of the Sword Coast. The interface has also been updated visually (but I believe it still functions much the same as the original). Perhaps the most immediately noticeable is the updated Infinity engine for the game as well as high resolution and widescreen support. Since BG:EE is actually my first foray with the game, to the former group I can only relate what is different about the Enhanced Edition, which is a good place to start in any case.īG:EE offers an impressive amount of updates to the game. The reason you’re probably reading this review is because you’re either wondering if Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition (henceforth BG:EE) is either 1) worth replaying if you’ve played the original, or 2) it's worth playing for the first time if you didn’t play the original. ![]()

That might mean missing out on some really exciting new plot twists, but I’m finally ready to take that risk. And I honestly don’t think I can keep up with it anymore. But I’ve had a nagging thought in the back of my head since the first episode that’s been getting louder and louder even as I’ve blearily binged through each new season like a relapsed junkie: This isn’t a good show. I’m a sucker for political dramas, and I will never tire of watching Robin Wright being a perfect ice queen. It would be a little masochistic to devote 39 hours to something I openly loathed - and the thing is, I don’t hate this show. I’ve dutifully watched the past three seasons of House of Cards along with everyone else. And that’s a shame, because the show employs some pretty excellent actors with little to do but creep around government buildings. It’s that none of them are remotely as interesting as the two leads. Characters like Zoe’s mopey ex-boyfriend, some old rich guy who collects birds, and Doug Stamper, whose entire season-three plotline can be summed up as “sad physical therapy, followed by continued stalking.” The problem isn’t that these characters are hard to like (although they are). Those two have been gone for a long time, though, and the show seems to be suffering under the delusion that we care just as much about the remaining supporting characters. Peter Russo might be the only genuinely sympathetic character the show’s ever had, and Zoe Barnes - well, I kinda hated Zoe Barnes for taking the already-exhausting pop-culture trend of slutty, manipulative lady reporters to new heights, but she definitely wasn’t boring! This wasn’t so much a problem in season one, when House of Cards had Corey Stoll and Kate Mara at its disposal. The rest of the cast is. less fascinating Or Frank and Claire seducing their bodyguard, but hey, you already knew that. Or Frank and Claire dividing and conquering at dinner parties. Some of the show’s most memorable scenes are just Frank and Claire sharing a cigarette late at night, plotting some political maneuvers. Separately, they’re both great, but Spacey and Wright are at their best when they’re together. I don’t know how she hasn’t already done this, but I’m willing to blow my savings on a front-row Broadway ticket whenever she decides to play Lady Macbeth. So seeing her show up in a series of immaculate black dresses and power-stare the crap out of everyone in Washington was a goddamn delight. I’m going to be honest and admit that I’d kinda lost track of Robin Wright after Forrest Gump. Even better is Robin Wright as his calculating wife, Claire. And I don’t mean that as an insult! It’s the only way to play Frank, and Spacey has a ton of fun tearing into each ludicrous aside to the camera. When you need an actor to deliver a hammy performance with a ridiculous southern drawl, one name should be at the top of your list: Kevin Spacey. ![]() Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are a fascinating power couple That’s not a great sign for the show’s long-term future. As season three made clear, House of Cards has no idea what to do with these two when they aren’t struggling or scheming for their next promotion. ![]() The show has killed off (in increasingly alarming fashion) almost everyone who poses a serious threat to the Underwoods, and Frank and Claire have now been sitting in the White House since the season-two finale. In an effort to keep outdoing itself, House of Cards has already painted itself into a corner. Be honest: are you really paying attention during those meetings about Frank’s education bill? Of course you aren’t, and why would you when all those quieter moments of real (well, sort of real) politics pale in comparison to all the outrageous plot twists? But the problem with writing a show like that is that everything in between suffers. No one watching House of Cards is savoring each episode for little details or surprising social commentary - they’re powering through to the next murder, affair, or graveyard desecration. Premiering as Netflix’s second original series (never forget Little Stevie’s Lilyhammer) this show was designed to be binged. Remember when Claire and Frank fed Meechum a ton of bourbon and then went to town on each other? How about when a future president threw a reporter in front of a moving train? Or when that random Chinese billionaire was into autoerotic asphyxiation? There’s no way around it: this show is fucking nuts. ![]() ![]() The guards are securely screwed into the case housing. The attached crown guards are oversized which provides maximum protection for the crown itself. On this watch, it was the crown and the crown guards that drew me to the prototype 3. It may be the material that is used for the case or the dial layout or the design of the case. There are certain details that will always draw me initially into a watch. In 2011, Juri has been developing and implementing his own model series that led him to registering Cronus in 2015. In 2006 Juri began to work with the restauration of watches which led him into development and design of watches which was on behalf of external watch manufacturer. I have been exploring the PROTOTYPE 3 Model PR-03GB, which so happens to be the model we will be discussing today. The meticulous design detail is apparent throughout this watch. Further information can be found in the patent description. As a result, the relief of the elevator crown has been achieved without sacrificing safety. As part of the development, the crown closure was further optimized and decoupled from the housing. One year later the prototype 1 was re-designed, the case got a new shape without losing its charm. The innovative locking system was patented in 2013. In addition, a corresponding note has been added on the dial (control before dive). It is controlled axially by a spring and warns the user from unsecured conditions. The closure was fitted with a visual warning system (red securing ring). The concept of the closure was consistently further developed and optimized after the test. In the following year, the prototype 1 was finally developed. This idea was implemented technically in 3D-construction. The requirement was from the outset: a very robust watch, which can withstand extreme loads and external influences and ensures water tightness. ![]() The aim was to maintain the characteristics of the axial rotation of the crown as a central control element and to stabilize the crown closure as it protrudes quite far. This post will share a perspective on why Serum is worth it but also reasons why it may not be.īut first, let's talk about what Serum actually is in the first place. As much as I loved the sound of the old monsters, I didn't enjoy the weight, the going out of tune and the constant need of repair. I don't think it exists or can ever exist. It has a lot of potential if you're willing to spend the time with it. I will take into account that it's Beta and hopefully in time it will get better. In that respect, this is the most frustrating synth I've ever worked with. This thing is buggy as hell in some DAWs. Some of the other FX that don't fall under the category of "great" are good to okay. But then again, nothing is that comes out of a PC. The Unison/Detune help a lot but this is no analog beast of the 70s or 80s. This is not a "fat" synth and there is no way to sugar coat it and say it is. Some things can't be modulated that I was hoping could be but for the most part, I'm pleased. I'll get to the filters later.Īlso like the modulation routings. Generally, if you're familiar with synths, programming is very easy. If you want to get the most out of it, you need to do some programming. This isn't an "open up the box and play" synth. Yes, you really have to dive in and get your hands dirty. What you get out of this synth is limited only by your imagination. But for the most part, understanding that digital is digital, there are a number of synths today that I do like. Zebra is also pretty close though not quite there. NI's Monarch is pretty close as far as filters. You just had to own an Oberheim to truly appreciate this. Had enough with the lack of creativity both in manufacture and use. Gave up on the whole synth craze after the "me too" era started. Spent a college tuition on hardware that is now long gone.
